61 of the world’s highest grades and 122 of China’s highest grades for the past consecutive 10 years

For the Chinese students who choose SCIE, and study IGCSE and A level system, after quitting the Chinese traditional ‘Gaokao’, the question of what they can use for application to college is the major concern for them and their parents.

Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), is the authoritative and standardized exams for the worldwide students under IGCSE and A level system. It is accepted by over 160 countries’ and regions’ universities, and no matter where the students apply for the top universities: UK, US or other countries, the CIE scores are the most important references of their academic performance for the application, which directly reflect students’ academic competitiveness and how well the school conducts the overall teaching program.

Since 2008, CIE annually makes the ranking of IGCSE/A level schools all over the world according to their CIE results. There’re around 230 IGCSE/A level schools(divisions) in China, and SCIE has been ranked No.1 among similar schools in China for TEN consecutive years. It’s not only a compliment for the students’ CIE results, but also a great achievement of SCIE on how high-qualitied the teachers are, and how effective the teaching method is.

In June 2017 exam series, we had 29 students who won the Cambridge and Edexcel Learner Awards. According to the report from CIE, we got 11 “Top in the world” winners, and 16 of “Top in China” awards. While in the three Edexcel exams, we have 2 students got “Top in World”by achieving full marks (100%) in 2 different subjects.

The Highlights of 2017 Academic Awards in SCIE:
1) The advantage of Science subjects remains powerful, especially for the Mathematics. In IGCSE Mathematics, there’re 4 students in SCIE who won the “Top in the world” awards. and we also got 2 “Top in the world” in AS Mathematics, and Further Mathematics; For the traditional preponderant subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, our students also won the first place without any doubt.
2) The growth of Humanity subjects becomes strong. The awards of “Top in China” in History, Geography and Society are now seized by SCIE. For Chinese students, the subjects, like Humanities are much more challenged than any other subjects, with the high demands in reading and English skills. But our students are brave to follow their true interests and pursue the diversity of subjects, which help to build up a solid foundation for their various college major choices in the future.
3) The strength of Arts stays outstanding. We got 2 “Top in China” in both AS and AL Art and Design, and 1 for “Top in China” in Music. Every year, our professional Art education cultivates a variety of talents, who receive offers from the top Art and Design colleges in UK/US, shining brilliantly in the field of Design. And there’re more and more students who are willing to study in the UK/US leading Music conservatories.
4) To satisfy students’ requirement of language diversity and learning, besides English and Chinese, SCIE has set up the courses of Japanese and Spanish. Having a student who won the “Top in the world” in AS English Literature, which is an extremely difficult subject to everyone who studies English all over the world, is the most astonishing surprise this year. And we also had the “Top in China” in AS English and Spanish. What’s more, in the Edexcel exams, there were two students who gained full marks (100%) in English Literature and Japanese respectively.
5) The subjects of Commerce are SCIE’s star courses which require high abilities on mathematical logic, business mind-set, and financial analysis. And this year, we had a winner of “Top in World” in Business Studies. Computer Science played a positive role in developing students’ interests of Internet technology, and our students showed the greatest passion and talent in this subject too, by winning the “Top in China” this year.
6) Except the outstanding students who won the “Top in the world” and “Top in China” in various subjects, the overall performance of SCIE students remained at a perfect high level, by reaching 2662 A and A* in total; and the average grade of overall AL subjects was 81, while AS’ was 80, and IGCSE’s was 87(excluding English).

The all-around excellent performance in exams provides a strong academic guarantee for SCIE students to apply for universities abroad. The trend of diversification development of graduated students started from the abundant options in SCIE curriculum, which also conformed to the diversified pursuits of majors for the students.

With the improvement of the teaching quality, and the increasing portion of expatriate teachers, SCIE will continuously strive to expand a richer school curriculum for the students, and widen their diversified opportunities on major choices and career plans in university application.

Mr. Murray himself, along with CIE Asian Affairs Director, Mr. Stephen Stocker, and Chief Coordinator in Asia, Mr. Steven Parker, came to SCIE on more than one occasion to see for themselves the campus that has made this an exemplary school in China.
