Centering the topic of healthy lifestyles, Metal 6 held to class meetings at the end of semester 1. Opening the topic on November 2nd, they discussed what is meant by a healthy lifestyle. And during the following session on November 16th, everyone formulated a plan to follow in continuance of the study.
On November 2nd, students were divided into groups to discuss the topic. Each selected a representative to impart the group’s ideas. Points such as reading more books and newspapers, eating less unhealthy snacks and sleeping adequately were raised. These were generally agreed amongst all year levels. Some thoughtful students also came up with advice including “don’t stay up late” and “drink more warm water.” From this activity, we saw that many students already have detailed knowledge about healthy lifestyles, perhaps obtained through information on the Internet, parents’ advice and personal experience. The points raised by this class meeting allowed everyone to recall ways of achieving a healthy lifestyle.
On November 16th, students set future plans for their lifestyles using knowledge from the previous session. Among all the students,York, Jerry, Tiger, Sylvia, Corrine and Coertney done exceedingly well. Jerry planned for himself to exercise everyday, dividing exercise to running, badminton and tennis. Also, the plan included eating plenty of vegetables and fruit. Andy was chosen to supervisor him. York, a G1 student, filled a whole A4 paper with his plan. He mentioned that he wanted to keep himself active, take part in school activities to relax himself and achieve happiness. From his plan, we can see that a both physical and mental health can be improved by adapting to healthier lifestyles.
