[Briefing] Xuzhi Chen, Daniel, graduated from SCIE in 2011, studied at Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design London.


 

 [SCIE web news, May 29, 2017] According to Forbes Under 30 Asia 2017, 300 young inventors, entrepreneurs and leaders are on the list. These young talents who are challenging conventions and making an impact in today’s world. They come from all walks of life pushing the boundaries of innovation. It’s fascinating to see how these millennials are using technology to disrupt their industries, empower their communities and overcome cultural barriers.

Xuzhi Chen,Daniel, the student graduated from SCIE 2011, made it to the list of Forbes Under 30 Asia. Alumnus Xuzhi Chen is a Chinese designer in London, he founded a luxury brand ‘Xu Zhi’. Xu Zhi is a London based brand with a contemporary attitude to both aesthetic and craftsmanship.






 

The brand strives to be focused on simplicity through intricacy, and creates the elegant products with material innovation at the heart of every piece. Still within its first five years, Xu Zhi has achieved niche and retail success — resonating in both European and Asian markets. As well as this, Xu Zhi continues to experiment with both material and technique showcasing collections in London, Paris, Milan and China. The combination of technical skill and curiosity in fabric experimentation has resulted in commercial success as well as creative collaborations with numerous well -established brands.

After establishing his signature technique of yarn and embroidery with his graduate collection, Chen was soon nominated for the H&M Design Awards in 2015, the infamous LVMH Prize in 2016, followed shortly after by the Woolmark Prize in the same year. The products of Xu Zhi are sold by retailers around the world, including Dover Street Market London, Lane Crawford China, Dong Liang China and SKP Beijing. With less than five years, the brand has gained the recognition in the luxury market, and the sales have been very successful-resonating in Europe and Asia.
