Working as a barber on campus
2017-07-07

[SCIE web news, July 7th, 2017] I am 2016er graduate Daniel Liu. I’m now a student in Emory University. By sharing my stories in the US and some of my personal thoughts, I hope to give you an insight into what student life here is really like. This can also act as a guidance for your future college choice.

For most of the boys how is studying abroad, haircut consumes a great part of their living expense. Any normal hair salon you find on the street can cost you at least 20 dollars. With the price so high, the quality of the haircut is usually unsatisfying. What’s more, people have to take an Uber to the nearest hair salon since there isn’t one on campus.

These inconveniences may present others many troubles. However, I saw a market niche in it. Why can’t myself be the one offering this highly-demanded haircut service?

After making the decision, I bought a set of haircut gear and brought them with me to the US. I started to run my business by charging every one of my customers 15 dollars if they are satisfied of the haircuts.

I genially built up my reputation as a decent barber and more and more people started to come to my business. At first, all of my customers are international students. Later, more domestic students heard about me and came for my service. All these people have made me a small fortune and I’m happy with that.
