2017 Got Talent Show came to an end
2017-10-20

[SCIE web news, Oct 20th, 2017] At 9pm on 10.12, another annual SCIE got talent show finally came to an end. Similar to last year, with his excellent and diverse instrumental knowledge and skill, Johnny from G1 was crowned this year’s first place.

Benjamin from G2 was also able to gain the popularity prize, with the help and support of his classmates’ glow sticks in the crowd.

This year’s SGT was split into two rounds, individual and team, which tested the contestant’s skill and talent’s diversity, giving the audience an amazing visual experience.

Last year’s champions Miya and Florence came on stage first, singing “Let it all go”. As the champions of last year’s SGT and the leaders of the Singing Club, their harmonies were beautifully delivered, both this year and last year.

Afterwards, Rap 4 Life came on stage to bring us Rap battle one on one, with their own original songs. The four of them wrote the songs by themselves, making it even more interesting to listen to.

Johnny came on stage to bring us . With his excellent musical skills, he amazed us all with his ability to play many different instrumens; drums, violin, and the electric guitar.

Maggie brought us an emotional and peaceful Chinese song, which was very different from the previous shows. Her voice was perfect for this song, creating a very special performance.

Benjamin brought us another dance to a Chinese song, wearing a whimsical dress, dancing more complicated moves and rhythm. Benjamin also brought along his “fan club”, who broke out glow sticks in the middle of his performance and tapped along to the rhythm of the song.

Afterwards, Katherine and JJ brought the song despacito, showing off their duet skills while also showing off their Spanish skills.

Afterwards, the Fanxy Ladies danced in their performance names . As three girls from the dance group Sparkling, they brought a very professional performance, winning the applause of the entire auditorium.

Lucas and Patrick, two rap professionals, sang a Chinese song. This was their second time participating in SGT, and after two years of experience, they came back as two rappers, creating a highlight of the show.

Lastly, Lambert and Cloris came on stage and sang Chinese songs. Lambert has been credited as SCIE’s “Joker Xue”, a Chinese singer, as his voice and appearance is amazingly similar to Xue Zhiqian. Along with Cloris’s beautiful voice, they used their combined singing and harmonies to create another amazing performance.

Afterwards were the group battles, and every contestant was matched to another contestant. This forced them to try out new types of performance, which challenged them not only to interact with other contestants, but also test their actual abilities.

Then, the contestants’ performances came to an end. As a special guest, Henry from A2 brought his performance of a Japanese song. Not only did he sing both the male and female part of the song, he also brought along 4 other students to dance in the background, making everyone in the auditorium clutch their stomachs with laughter.

Lastly, the A1 band Shuffle brought the song . As guests of previous SGT shows, they brought another amazing performance to the stage, creating quite a stir in Wechat Moments.

In a flurry of applause, this year’s SGT finally came to an end. Let’s applaud all the contestants once again, and special thanks to all of the people who took part in this year’s SGT, including the Entertainment Department and TBU.

See you next year!
