No.1 About FBLA

What is FBLA?

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is the world’s largest organization for student career development and Business education, the organizer of the world’s largest high school Business competition, and a necessary academic practice activity for Business economics in international middle schools.

With more than 6,400 member schools and more than 250,000 student members in 47 states, Canada, China, Europe, Central and South America, FBLA is the largest student organization and business education organization in the United States.

Over the years, Shenzhen college of international education has only participated in two core subjects, which are Marketing and International Business. Marketing is a process in which goods or services are transferred from producers to consumers. It is a series of activities carried out by enterprises or other organizations to meet the needs of consumers. Marketing is a science that systematically studies the regularity of Marketing activities. International Business is a comprehensive discipline that covers corporate communication, transaction law, human resource management, organizational structure and career planning. SCIE students have won the first place in International Business in China Round in FBLA in previous years, and the second place in International Business in the Global Round. Other students have also achieved excellent results as well.

No.3 Speech from the team advanced to FBLA Global Round

Xitong(Cynthia) Liu:In the preparation process of this competition, we made full use of the materials provided by FBLA China Organizing Committee and Miss Allen, including but not limited to the past-papers, Official Guide, case analysis and so on. We are very grateful to the Student Council for their support of the competition by providing us with a free study room during the China Preparation competition for our weekly study discussions. As the team leader, my daily job is to give my two teammates the task of the day, usually is the practice of the real questions over the years. As for our wrong questions, I will regularly arrange online discussion at Tencent meeting , so as to eliminate teammates’ doubts on knowledge points in time and not let the problems pile up at the end! In Chapter Event, we chose to make free financial and economic lessons by ourselves to let more people know the financial and economic common sense in daily life. Finally, this Project was successfully awarded as the first place in China 🥇! In FBLA China Round, in the face of strong opponents from around the country, we designed special tactics, and we succeed to finish the 100 questions in the limited one hour, combined with the high marks in Case study ,we was admitted to the global round with the overall national 2nd place! I look forward to further success with my teammates in the FBLA Global Round!

You(Frank)Peng: These competition has left me a deep impression,as I wasn’t so sure about my orientation, which is England ,until g2,and I haven’t participated in any extracurricular events or competition. And by chance I found my interest in marketing in business studies. FBLA happened to have this option, so I signed up. For the National conference , I was a little nervous at the beginning, after all, the local students in Shanghai are very advantageous, they do not have to travel long distance, but also have more time to study (they owned the first prize in the country as expected) at the same time, there are a lot of outstanding people, which has post me a lot of pressure . Because our group took the presentation at 11 o ‘clock and we had to take the individual competition at 12:30 in the afternoon, we hurried to the examination room without resting. As a result, I failed the two contests in the afternoon. I recovered a bit in the evening and barely got the 10th place in personal finance . For such a tight schedule, what I want to say is:Do not stay up late to review, or you will be feel not yourself the next day. The next morning, the three of us finished the objective multiple choice test of the team project faster than expected. I was responsible for filling in the cards (only one paper was handed in eventually ), and the test lasted for one hour. We filled in the cards while discussing,it only took us half an hour to complete the questions.Successfully,we got the second place in China, nervous but not panic-stricken, and I feel honored to enter the global marketing competition for the first time on behalf of SCIE.

Le(John)Le: It’s my first time participating in FBLA in China and the overall experience was impressive. The schedule is so tight that there is little time for dinner. During the exam, thousands of people sat and answered the questions. The atmosphere was very amazing, and the questions were also quite challenging. After a whole day’s examination, I was physically and mentally exhausted. The next day, we quickly finished the paper and discussed the answers to the questions. Finally, we filled in the answer sheet in a very limited time. After the exam, we were relieved. This activity also met many talented people and possible future business leaders and gained unique experience. Although I felt very tired, it was pretty fulfilling. There was no spare time for us to waste. It’s also very ceremonial to wear formal clothes. It feels like I’m doing business. To have a desirable grade on FBLA, understanding all the knowledge points on OG and the meaning of each option, and reading business knowledge is crucial. In addition, if you have spare time, you can learn more about marketing, read some more difficult books. Finishing questions on OG is also essential. There will be many similar questions in the exams over the years. It can ensure a basic mark. I hope all students can also play well in the future competition, leaving no regrets and breaking through themselves. I also hope you can achieve better results than us in the next year!

No.4 Speech from other teams

Team of Yawen Wu,Tianyi Ji and Meiting Liu:We still remember when practicing business case analysis for the first time, we stuttered and couldn’t think of any good points. During two months of practicing, we kept giving advice to each other and thinking about how to do better. Also, under the guidance of our teacher (Thank you, Cheong!), everyone has improved better than last time in each practice. In the competition, we couldn’t think straight when preparing for the case analysis. Seeing that half of the time was about to pass, and there were only a few words on notecards, we made a bold decision to exchange our sections. Finally, we managed to fill the notecards in the last 5 minutes. In the end, our most satisfying performance was the one that we showed inthe competition!

Team of Lixin Xu and Ruiting Ye: Through participating in FBLA-International Business, we learned to provide the most appropriate business strategy for multinational enterprises and to compare several similar recruitment methods or transnational business strategies with critical thinking. At the same time, we learned how to divide roles and explain the impact of each choice in the role play, and improved our teamwork ability. We feel that the biggest gains are in the participation– understanding each concept and applying it to practice, identifying shortcomings and expanding accordingly. Overall, a nice experience with each other!

Team of Qingxuan Wang,Junyi Lu and Jiayu Li : It was a fun and rewarding experience. We get to know our peers from all over the country, gaining the opportunity to exchange and learn from each other while competing. In the preparation process, we also felt the importance of teamwork, and also discovered the fun we never thought of—-the process of helping and collaborating with each other was pretty interesting and unforgettable. We’re excited to be able to come together and move forward towards the same goal.

Team of Letian Chen,Xingchen Li and Chuang Zhai: The composition of our group is actually quite strange. Two of the three team members may not consider majors in economics and business in the future, but the team was formed by chance because of their common interests towards business studies. In this competition, our group gradually established a multi-dimensional knowledge system from the beginning with little knowledge of international business, which is of great benefit to the breadth and depth of our knowledge inside and outside the classroom. Before the competition, we did a lot of case studies with Cheong, a funny business teacher, which exercised our ability to absorb and analyze knowledge. In the team project, we demonstrated our strengths and assisted each other. We elaborated the factors of managing within 10 minutes as stipulated by the Case Study, reaching a quite satisfying level. Facing the questions of the judges, we have learned from the previous discussions with the teacher. The invaluable knowledge gained from the rehearsals can be employed fluently and confidently, at the same time overcoming the previous problems such as speaking too fast. In open events, we also learned a lot of interesting content in subjects such as computing, medical management and business financial math. Overall, FBLA was an unforgettable journey with a lot to offer for everyone. We would like to thank the school and competition tutor Cheong for their support. These are our final comments.
