In August 2003, Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE) was established, authorized by Cambridge International Examinations to deliver IGCSE and A Level programmes. From its inception, the school aimed to provide rigorous academic training and prepare students for global higher education.

By 2004, SCIE’s first cohort achieved results that surpassed expectations, with AS examination scores exceeding the UK average by 25.3%. The following year, the inaugural graduating class of 30 students secured admission to top universities, including Cambridge and Oxford. On August 3, 2005, SCIE moved into its first permanent campus in Futian, ending years of relocation and laying the foundation for steady development.

Shaping a Legacy

From 2006 to 2019, SCIE grew rapidly in both academic achievement and reputation. The school gained international recognition, expanded extracurricular opportunities, and consistently ranked among the top global schools for Oxbridge admissions, building its reputation as a leader in international education in China.

In 2006, SCIE’s achievements were recognized in CIE’s International Outlook, praising its success in guiding students toward leading universities across the globe. This recognition marked the start of a period of rapid growth. By 2008, SCIE students had achieved world-class results in Cambridge examinations, with record numbers of top marks both nationally and globally.

During this era, SCIE also invested in its culture and community. The House System, introduced in 2010, fostered teamwork, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and school spirit, while student clubs grew to over 100 by 2016. The school further demonstrated its commitment to global standards by gaining CIS accreditation in 2014 and joining international associations such as EARCOS and FOBISIA.

By 2017, SCIE ranked among the top ten schools worldwide for Oxbridge admissions—the only mainland Chinese school on the list. With strong academic outcomes, a diverse curriculum, and enriched extracurricular opportunities, SCIE solidified its place as a premier institution in international education.

The year 2020 brought unprecedented challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, yet SCIE adapted swiftly, transitioning to online learning while maintaining academic excellence. That same year, the school bid farewell to its Shuiwei campus and moved into a purpose-built new campus in Antuoshan, providing students with world-class facilities for learning, arts, and sports.

Following this milestone, SCIE continued to excel. In 2021, the school earned WASC accreditation and was ranked among the top international schools in China. The establishment of the SCIE Arts Academy in 2022 further expanded opportunities for students with creative aspirations, providing structured pathways toward careers in the arts.

Today, SCIE remains at the forefront of international education, consistently achieving top rankings both nationally and globally, and opening new doors for students through initiatives such as ACT testing and international competition success. With its new campus and vision for the future, SCIE continues to inspire and empower the next generation of global citizens.
