SCIE Class of 2024 Senior Week

At SCIE, Senior Week is not only a symbol of academic achievement but also represents the blossoming of joy and youth.

Water Fight: After a post-rain sunny day

On Monday, April 22, 2024, as the end of spring recedes and the prelude to summer gently begins, we commemorate the start of our seniors’ new chapter in life with a special water fight, marking the start of this year’s Senior Week.

This year’s water fight was unusual—it wasn’t under the scorching sun but on an afternoon following a storm, as if nature had pre-warmed for the celebration, stirring the students’ restless hearts. Gathered around a blue pool, with water guns in hand, they ignited sparks of joy. Despite lingering rain, their enthusiasm did not wane, and between noise and tranquility, the chapter of the water fight began.

The campus breezes whispered as if nature itself were blessing us, the students’ figures lively and picturesque, with reflections in puddles on the basketball court mirroring dreams. The sound of water guns, carefree laughter, and calls of friendship blended into a melody of farewell, capturing the essence of youth and blessings for the future.

This Senior Week symbolizes not only the completion of studies but the flowering of youth. As seasons change, we celebrate the beginning of new chapters with a unique water fight, carrying blessings and hope. After the water fight, what remains is not just memories of the game but the imprint of youth and aspirations for the future.

When the event concludes, the sunset spreads gently across the sky like an orange ribbon, the orange hues of twilight not just the afterglow of the sunset but a hymn to this period, warmly blessing each graduate about to step out of school.

Night Light & Show: Echoes of Youth

Tuesday is the day for the Night Light & Show, and like the previous day, it started with a thunderstorm. Concerned, I asked my classmates, ‘With such heavy rain, can the Night Light & Show continue?’ The unanimous response was, ‘Who cares.’ Fortunately, the night remained dry.

As the last photo faded, without a countdown, everyone instinctively threw their glow sticks into the night sky, flying across like shooting stars. These lights merged into the brightest Milky Way in the sky, symbolizing the start of new lives, tracing beautiful arcs like each person’s unique youthful trajectory.

Superman Dance: Laughter, and Cheers

On the stage of the Superman Dance, classmates freely displayed their individuality and talent. A hilarious adaptation of ‘甄嬛传’ vibrant dormitory dramas, and compilations of internet hot memes ignited the audience’s enthusiasm. This was not just a dance performance but a showcase of the graduates’ youthful attitudes. Everyone found their place on this stage, unleashing themselves.

On this youthful stage, Picso, Tony, and Stark almost became regulars at every performance event, from the vigorous passages of the New Year Concert to the impressive acts of SCIE Got Talent. Whenever the music started and the spotlight fell, I knew those familiar figures would again bring joy and surprises.

Senior Week, every event is a celebration, each performance possibly someone’s final curtain. Pico, Tony, and Stark, known ‘stars’ of our school, have accompanied me throughout my high school years with their singing and performances. But under the brilliance of the Superman Dance, who knows how many others, like them, use this final stage for their farewell performance? In this continually renewing youth, every corner may hide an unsung hero, presenting their most dazzling performance in the final moments.

Farewell Ceremony: Goodbyes and New Beginnings

On the last day of Senior Week, the farewell ceremony unfolded as the climax. On stage, the school flag was slowly passed from the hands of A2 SELT to their successors from A1, a moment of responsibility and honor, as well as a tribute to the past. This was followed by the announcement of each house’s points. Not only a summary of a year’s efforts but also the starting point for next year’s challenges. As a member of the water house, I felt a desire and hope for the coming year (Hydro Power!) but still warmly congratulated Metal House—Golden Glow!

Then, A2’s SELT members took the stage one by one, not only summarizing a year of hard work and achievements but also expressing deep gratitude to all chairs and deputy chairs. Their words were not only show respects to team members but also acknowledge the challenges faced, celebrating friendship and team spirit.

As the closing ceremony concluded, A2 students gathered for a farewell photo. Excitement and smiles were indelible on everyone’s faces as they posed for the camera, each smile containing the minutiae of past years and hopes for the future. This group photo not only froze time but also preserved the shared youth and memories.

In Conclusion

This year’s Senior Week was particularly special to me, marking my last time experiencing this moment as a spectator. Next year, I too will be among those rushing to take commemorative photos during Senior Week, perhaps finding myself in someone else’s picture, recalling every detail of my time at SCIE.

Senior Week is not just a time of farewells; it is the beginning of a legacy. Each activity, every gathering, we not only pass on blessings to our predecessors but also a force, motivating us to believe that no matter how uncertain the future may be, we can face the challenges bravely with the memory of our youth.
