Spring Festival at SCIE: Where Tradition Meets Community and Joy

As the Spring Festival approaches, a warm and festive atmosphere gradually spreads across the campus. To create a joyful and harmonious holiday environment, the Student Life Division organized a special Spring Festival themed event. By thoughtfully combining traditional folk customs with engaging interactive games, the activity allowed students to relax and unwind from their demanding academic schedules. Amid laughter and celebration, participants were able to experience the vibrant spirit of the New Year while reconnecting with elements of traditional culture, welcoming the coming year with renewed optimism.

Stepping into the event area, one could immediately sense the strong festive spirit. Colorful decorations and cheerful surroundings created a lively and welcoming atmosphere. In the calligraphy corner, where students were invited to write Spring Festival couplets and the character “Fu,” brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones were neatly arranged, filling the space with the faint fragrance of ink and a sense of classical elegance. Students eagerly picked up their brushes and carefully wrote their own New Year blessings. Every stroke—whether horizontal, vertical, or curved—carried patience and intention. The “Fu” characters and red couplets produced during the activity not only expressed hopes for the year ahead, but also allowed participants to experience the beauty of Chinese calligraphy more directly. Through this hands-on process, students developed a deeper appreciation for the aesthetic and cultural richness of Chinese characters, while traditional culture quietly took root within the campus environment.

Beyond the calm and artistic atmosphere of the calligraphy area, the game section of the event was equally vibrant and energetic. Laughter echoed frequently as students enthusiastically took part in various activities. The balloon race proved especially entertaining: participants carefully controlled their pace while racing forward, releasing youthful energy through movement and friendly competition. Nearby, the dart-throwing area drew focused participants who aimed carefully before each throw, with every successful hit bringing cheers from the surrounding crowd. The ring-toss game quickly became another popular attraction. A long line formed as students waited for their turn, concentrating intensely before each attempt. Winning a small prize brought not only a gift but also a strong sense of satisfaction and joy.

Alongside the games, the Student Life Division prepared a variety of carefully designed Year of the Horse themed souvenirs. Each gift reflected thoughtful preparation and added another layer of excitement to the event. Students who earned these prizes through their participation happily collected them, their smiles revealing genuine enjoyment. Though small in size, these gifts carried warm wishes from the school community and contributed to the welcoming and celebratory atmosphere of the occasion.

More than simply an entertaining campus event, the Spring Festival fair provided students with a valuable opportunity to relax, interact, and recharge. In the midst of busy academic life, the activities helped students relieve stress and adjust their pace. At the same time, the immersive experience allowed participants to gain a deeper understanding of traditional customs and the cultural meaning behind the celebration of the New Year. Friendships were strengthened, the sense of community grew stronger, and the campus itself seemed filled with renewed warmth and vitality.

A new year brings new beginnings and new aspirations. Carrying with them the joy and blessings gained from this celebration, students are encouraged to move forward with enthusiasm, confidence, and determination. With a positive mindset and an open spirit, they can continue pursuing their goals, embracing challenges, and striving toward their dreams in the year ahead.
