This year, I embarked on a life-changing journey from India to Shenzhen as a Physics Teacher at Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE). My experience at SCIE, and life in Shenzhen more broadly, has been nothing short of transformative.

The school’s vibrant international environment celebrates the rich cultural diversity found within the student body. As a Physics teacher, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the beauty of cross-cultural interactions and the invaluable insights that arise when students from diverse backgrounds come together to explore the world. SCIE actively promotes and cherishes this diversity, making it an integral part of our daily lives.
The commitment to academic excellence at SCIE is palpable, and it’s evident in the dedication and enthusiasm of the students, most of whom are Chinese. As a Physics teacher, I’ve been deeply impressed by their unwavering pursuit of knowledge. The rigorous academic programs challenge both students and teachers to excel and foster a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. SCIE’s commitment to holistic education has allowed me to contribute to the all-round development of my students, where I am not just a Physics teacher but also a mentor, guide, and source of inspiration as they grow as individuals.
The warmth and camaraderie of the SCIE community have been instrumental in making my transition to life in Shenzhen a smooth one. Living on campus, I’ve had the privilege of forming strong personal and professional bonds with my colleagues, most of whom are also from various corners of the globe. The sense of belonging and support extends to students as well, creating a nurturing environment that values both academic growth and personal connections. This sense of community has been particularly important to me as a newcomer from India. The relationships I’ve built at SCIE go beyond professional connections; they are bonds of friendship and support that enrich my experience every day.
Beyond the school, life in Shenzhen offers a myriad of experiences. This city is a vibrant blend of modernity and tradition, and it’s where I, as an educator from India, have been given the opportunity to immerse myself in the rich tapestry of Chinese culture. Whether it’s celebrating traditional Chinese festivals, visiting historical landmarks, or simply exploring the local cuisine, Shenzhen offers a plethora of experiences that make every day an adventure.
