Leaves are falling, autumn is calling

Autumn, where the north breeze signs, the south wind echoes. Wind rustling in the air, but the scenery remains. HuiZhou, a city which seems simple, but hides the prosperity of a city.

Late September, when the wind is soughing, comes the season of romance.

The adventure starts from our campus. After noon, we finally arrived at our destination – Huizhou Avinon Ecological Park. As we entered the park, it was presented as a fairyland on the Earth. Bathed in the sun, gentle wind flew over our ears. The garden is full of flourishing lush dense trees, it’s the colour of jade. My eyes were dazzled by the lustful colours.

Near noon, we were gathered by groups, following the guidance given by tutors and student leaders. We negotiated and discussed group names and slogans with team members. For a while, discussions broke out in the camp, laughter echoed in the camp site. With the successful drawing of our team flags, we started a one-day activity under the leadership of the coach.

DIY cooking is one of the most exciting and anticipated activities in camping.

Fire and Metal house were the ones who got the chance to participate in this activity first. How to make delicious and appetising dishes within a limited time is a challenge for everyone. When the charcoal fire in the stove is ignited, the heat wave gradually comes. Even though the weather is hot and dry, it cannot stop our growing enthusiasm. Although I shed tears because of the billowing smoke, when I saw the dishes being cooked in the raging fire, pride ran through my heart.

In addition to Metal and Fire, Wood and Water also participated in the same activities in the evening. So the same thrilling scenes were staged, smoke like special effects in movies appeared again, giving every G1 a touch of warmness.

G1 Camping is of course more than just DIY cooking.

After a short break, a series of team building activities ushered in. Whether it’s the determination shown in ‘Drum’, physical strength and precision needed for ‘Pétanque’. Or the team coordination in ‘Potato on spoon race’ and ‘Sack race,’ cheering from ‘Caterpillar race’ and ‘4-legged race’, they all gave us an opportunity to be familiar with each other.

Tent building has been an indispensable part of G1 Camping for more than ten years. We helped each other and built our own little home together. After a while, more than 500 tents were neatly lined up in several rows. The shocking scene had aroused people’s amazement.

As night time approaches, fiery red roses bloom in the sky as the twilight closes, leaving only a trace of the sunlight. The KTV time is coming, and dozens of performers are ready to perform.

Under the flashing lights, the atmosphere of the night was ignited by the song “Spicy”, the cheers were endless. The beautiful voice awakened vague memories. We waved our arms and hummed along with the performer’s voice, whether it was the song “Love Story” or the song “Perfect”.

As night falls, the wind blows in sharp, cold gusts, and the air is filled with the smell of moist soil. Everyone returned to their small tent.

As if we had travelled back to ancient times, to a time without electricity or lights. Although there was no candlelight, there was laughter in the warm orange light.

It was a starry summer night, the wind was caressing, as if the sky was the curtain, and the earth was the bed.

We lie beneath the starry skies, the lights are shining, the voices are dim, and the laughter is heard from time to time, as if time has frozen quietly, leaving this moment forever and ever.

Looking up from the tent, a few stars appeared, as if there were shooting stars passing through the sky, scattering stars dazzling in the pale blue sky.

Looking at the starry night lights and listening to the breeze caressing the ground, we gradually fell asleep.

As the east becomes white, the dawn softly breaks. Before the morning light falls, the chirping of birds wakes us up. When the sun rises, beautiful melodies ring out in the camp, awakening those in their dreams.

After breakfast there was a very imaginative and innovative activity – building a trebuchet. With our smooth cooperation, ten bamboom pillars and a length of hemp rope gradually turned into exquisite trebuchets in our hands.

Even though the test was full of loopholes and laughter continued, as we checked and upgraded over and over again, the seemingly simple trebuchet became extremely powerful.

Finally we ushered in the last activity – making rice cakes. Pieces of dough are formed in our hands, filled with peanuts or sesame seeds, they are placed into exquisite boxes, and taken home to share with our family.

Time is passing through our fingertips without notice, G1 Camping for 2023 is coming to an end. With our form tutor, we got on the bus and went back to our campus.

September’s bright harvest season flows by rapidly as the years pass swiftly.

Though these days pass like a dream, we will always cherish and remember.
