My Story with the Violin

It’s a great honor for my ECA SCIE Chamber Music to get first prize in Chamber Music Competition representing SCIE. For me who have already got great numbers of gold medals, the first prize actually didn’t surprise me a lot. However, this award is still meaningful. It shows that as the leader of my ECA, I have the ability to lead my team to the top.

To be honest, when I was small, the instrument that I wanted to learn was guitar. I always admired those singers who was standing on the stage singing songs while playing the guitar. However, since I was still small, most people recommended to study violin or piano first then guitar. Under my parents’ advice, I randomly chose violin as my first instrument.

At first, I didnt take violin quite seriously. Daily practicing violin for 30 minutes seemed to be extremely boring for me. Similarly, my violin teacher also didnt pay much attention on me.

Until one day when I attended a master class and get praised from the violin professor saying that I had great talents in violin, my violin teacher started to spend more time teaching me and I was encouraged since I had never heard anyone saying that. My violin skills increased dramatically and I achieved gold award in numerous violin competitions.

Through years of practicing, I found myself interested in violin and classical music. The idea of learning guitar in childhood has already replaced by exploring more in the classical music era. My music lists change from mainly pop songs to entirely classical pieces.

For most people, classical music maybe hard to understand and enjoy, but for me, I can find the beauty and the attractiveness of the music. I love the continuous harmony of fugue from Baroque music, I  enjoy the symphony from classical period, I find passion and energy from Romantic concertos and I am impressed by the solo piece from 20th century music.

Learning violin helps me to discover a new field, a special and unique music world that others don’t understand.

In SCIE, I am available to continue develop my interest. Under the help of teachers from Arts Academy, I was able to create my music ECA SCIE chamber music, a place where classical lovers join together and play classical music.

Through these years, I still manage to balance my academic studies and my violin. My music club also develop successfully. Thanks SCIE for providing a platform for people who have dreams like me to develop and improve themselves!
