♦ Acknowledging the school, 2017

As a student who has been used to the traditional Chinese education in public school, the “international Education” in SCIE sounds so fresh to me. At the same time, the freedom to choose my own subjects also attracted me deeply. Honestly speaking, I can’t do well in all the subjects. To be more specific, I can devote enormous time and energy to the subjects that I am interested in, while I find it hard to learn those that are not my cup of tea. After acknowledging SCIE and doing more profound research, I immediately decided to apply to this school.

Studying in SCIE, 2018

I can still remember the afternoon when I first entered the school. I stepped onto the campus and breathed the fresh air accompanied by the pleasant scent of mud after a mild rain. Just like the flowers and trees in Shenzhen starts their new lives after spring, my life has reached a new milestone. Since my English proficiency was pretty good, I adapted to SCIE life quickly, which uses English as the official language, while also taking part in the classroom activities without any difficulties. Actually, the humorous teaching methods and the interesting homework aroused my interest in the fields of Computer Science and Economy, which actually became my major now.

The campus life at G-level can be described as delightful and free. The distinctive teaching system in SCIE allowed me to devote more time to my personal hobbies, including computing and road cycling. I’d like to give credit to the deadline system in SCIE, which means that students do not have to hand in their homework right after the teachers announce them, but to allocate their time freely on their own and finish their tasks before the deadline. As a matter of fact, my hobbies relieved me from the stressful exams and helped me to achieve pretty decent grades in the final exams.

Time flew, and I soon started my A-level courses after two years. Compared to the G-level systems, A-level is much more intricate and challenging, which made me give up some of my hobbies and spend more time on my academic work. I developed my own study method under the unique campus life in SCIE. Unlike other students who try to improve by doing more past papers, I tend to spend more time understanding my notes made during class. I usually make three or even more different versions of notes to understand the content clearly and thoroughly.

♦ Extra Curriculum activities

In SCIE, extra curriculum activities are always a crucial part of students’ campus lives. Almost all the subjects in this school own their unique field trips. For example, my classmates and I visited a local mountain in Shenzhen. Our teacher taught us to measure the data in the mountain using methods we learned during class. I have to admit that it feels completely different to read the information in textbooks and apply them to reality on our own. I believe that only with appropriate extra curriculum activities accompanied by sufficient professional knowledge can a student improve thoroughly.

♦ University application

My campus came to a “rush hour” as the university application process began. I had to prepare complex materials for the application while trying hard to catch up with the school’s syllabus. Besides, the application process aiming at universities in different regions of the world and even different majors have huge differences, professional suggestions from counselors in UCO extraordinarily crucial. With the help of my counselor, I was successfully enrolled in a decent college and learned Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence as my major. I sincerely hope that every freshman in SCIE will be able to accept an offer from their favorite universities and experience happy campus life.
