2019 SCIE Food Fair

Share

The campus boiled up with excitement as the annual Food Fair began in the afternoon of Oct. 29. The autumn air is crispy and cool, but the atmosphere in SCIE sizzled with heat — not only the heat emitting out from pots and pans, but also the passion radiating from everybody’s heart.

Dishes from all over the world found their place in different booths, and one round inside the campus would take your taste buds to a world-trip of delicious food and diverse culture. Teachers showcased their own nations’ specialties, adding exotic elements to the Food Fair, while parents and students brought their hometown memories, recalling the warmth of home through our tongues.

As soon as the bell rang, students rushed downstairs and filled up the ground floor. Long queues formed in front of the food stalls as we waited patiently for our turns, and the most popular stalls had dozens of students lining up over tens of meters. All fatigue disappeared as the dishes were finally handed out to the students at front, and joy overwhelmed us as we finally tasted the “legendary” recipe.

The treat was fascinating and delightful, yet we were not satisfied so soon. With handfuls of plates and dishes, we walked around still seeking for more, despite what was still left in our hands and mouths.

It has been my third Food Fair in SCIE, and every year is unique. The food is different, the people serving them change, but the crave for tastiness remains year after year, reminding us to take care of ourselves and to live our lives with a simple passion and gratitude. The love contained in our Food Fair gets passed down further, as all revenue from the Food Fair is donated to charity organizations.
