[SCIE web news, February 24th, 2017] On 23rd, February 2017, the school Prefect Body organised an Oxbridge Lecture in the Auditorium in the school. The lecture has benefitted not only A1 Oxbridge applicants, but also G-level students who are interested in the two universities.
Lucie, the Head Girl of the Prefect Body, hosted the lecture. She first introduced the purposes and the procedure of the lecture. Then Sunny, the Deputy Head Boy and an Oxford offer holder, introduced some useful information on the location, environment, college system and the application process of Oxford University.
After that, Lucie had the microphone again and talked about Cambridge. As a Cambridge offer holder, she introduced specifically the college system and the study in Cambridge in detail. She also emphasised the importance of researching online about Cambridge and looking at the official website of the university.
The Lecture proceeded into the second section where different Oxbridge applicants talked about application on specific subjects. Lucie (Biochemistry), Asia (Mathematics), Cynthia (Economics), Jerry (Engineering), Kerry (Law) and Cheryl (Architecture) highlighted some key points in their applications to Oxbridge in short but in detail. The audience was making their notes of the lecture carefully, and they also attained lots of useful information.
At last, William, as the only few successful recipients of the Jardine Scholarship, introduced the scholarship programme. William’s experience was really helpful to those who are competitive enough to repeat his success.
The lecture lasted for 2 hours, and Lucie summarised the lecture. The Prefect Body will be extremely willing to help those who encounter problems in their applications.
